Historical Blindness the podcast and blog is the brainchild of Nathaniel Lloyd, alumnus of the Antioch University Los Angeles Creative Writing MFA program and author of a series of forthcoming historical novels.
The principal purpose of the Historical Blindness podcast and blog is to dredge up interesting and largely forgotten stories from our past, with a specific focus on demonstrating the inscrutability, the ineffability, the unknowability of the past by examining cases of outrageous hoaxes, mass hysteria, baffling mysteries and unreliable historiography, such as apocryphal accounts that contravene accepted history, thereby raising the question, “Can we trust history as we have received it?” With the purpose not only of calling attention to history’s untrustworthiness but also the fallibility of our own education and memory, we shall also occasionally examine stories from our past that reflect directly upon the events of modern day with the intention of raising the question, “Have we learned nothing from received history?”
All blog posts and podcast material are written by Nathaniel Lloyd.
